James Corden is paying the salaries of furloughed Late Late Show staff from his own pocket, it has been claimed. The 41-year-old has been broadcasting the nightly series from his garage in LA for the last few weeks, due to coronavirus.
According to Variety, CBS covered eight weeks of salary for members of the production team who became sidelined following the changes.
The Gavin and Stacey actor is thought to picked up the responsibility himself, telling some Late Late Show staff that they will be furloughed from 4 May – and that he will be covering their salaries from his own pocket.
While the total cost is unclear, the publication states it is likely to be at least ‘five figures a week’. Seriously generous.
