SRINAGAR : Having normalized the art of staying at home since 1989, the turmoil-hit Kashmir is finding it painful to manage a furlough dictated by an invisible contagion.
The absence of joint prayers and people suspecting each other of being infected are taking a toll on the society. While the first patient, a 67-year-old woman recovered, two have died.
As on 2 April, there were 70 cases, making Kashmir an emerging hotspot for coronavirus. Authorities have already set up a 35,000-bed quarantine facility to manage the crisis if the virus gets into the community-infection stage.
