Katie Hopkins has been told off by police for breaking coronavirus lockdown rules by visiting a garden centre and encouraging people to leave their houses.

The far-right former Apprentice star, 45, was urged to "do the right thing" by Devon and Cornwall Police. She had posted a bizarre video on Twitter telling people to visit garden centres, provoking fury from people pointing out she is flouting the lockdown rules which state you must only leave your home for essential reasons, due to the coronavirus.

She wrote: "This weekend we need to Dig for Victory. I applaud places like #PlantsGalore for defying bureaucrats (with guaranteed salaries & big pensions) using common sense and staying open. "Customers 2 metres apart.
