Ernakulam: Kerala on Friday confirmed 39 more Covid-19 cases, the biggest spike in a day for the state that has already one of the highest numbers in the country and signal towards the community transmission.
The total active cases in the state are now 164, said Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. So far 13 people recovered, including one a day ago, he said.
It is not immediately clear whether the new cases are fully returnees from overseas travel or natives. Out of the confirmed cases, 34 are from Kasargod, the north Kerala district that reportedly paid scant regard for stay-at-home advisories issued by the state in the initial days of the spread.
