More than 106 million Americans in 24 states are under a heat alert.(FOX Weather) The National Weather Service says heat is expected to persist for the next few days, with well-above-average to record temperatures expected from the central and southern Rockies across the Plains and into the lower and mid-Mississippi, Tennessee and lower Ohio valleys.And as the heat index is expected to easily reach above 100 degrees in many parts of the country, Heat Advisories, Excessive Heat Warnings and Excessive Heat Watches have been posted across most of the eastern Plains states, the lower and mid-Mississippi Valley, the Ohio Valley the lower Tennessee Valley and the central Gulf Coast.The NWS says a strong area of high pressure will begin to build over the Tennessee Valley, which will also allow the heat to begin to build up in the Carolinas.WHAT IS THE 'FEELS LIKE' TEMPERATURE?The forecast high temperatures on Monday, June 13.(FOX Weather) Check out these high temperatures in the South on Monday.It will get into the mid- to upper 90s across the region from Dallas and Houston and along the Gulf Coast into the Mississippi and Tennessee valleys, as well as the Southeast.Nashville, Tennessee, will see a high temperature of about 100 degrees, but it will feel even hotter when you factor in the heat index.It will feel like 110 degrees or higher across the region on Monday.(FOX Weather) Even though the temperatures across the region will be at or near 100 degrees, it will feel even hotter.Dallas and Houston will feel like it's 103 degrees, and Little Rock, Arkansas, and Alexandria, Louisiana, will feel like 105 degrees.Nashville and Tuscaloosa, Alabama, will feel like it's about 100 degrees.HOW THE WEATHER YOU'RE ACCUSTOMED TO AFFECTS

NEW ORLEANS - It seems that one of America’s favorite Christmas songs has now landed singer Mariah Carey in a legal battle with a man claiming to be the writer of the lyrics.Carey is being sued by Andy Stone, who claimed to have co-written Carey’s hit "All I Want for Christmas is You" in 1989  and recorded it at the Masterphonics Studio 6 in Nashville, Tennessee.Stone, whose stage name is "Vince Vance," filed a complaint against Carey, Walter Afanasieff and Sony Music Entertainment in the U.S. District Court of Eastern District of Louisiana Friday.According to court documents obtained by FOX Television Stations, Stone said Carey and her team never sought permission to use the song "in creating, reproducing, recording, distributing, selling, or publicly performing."RELATED: 1-on-1 with Mariah Carey on her holiday classic, new Christmas special and more!Stone is suing for copyright infringement, unjust enrichment and misappropriation and violation of the Lanham Act, which governs trademarks.Stone is seeking at least $20 million in damages.Neither representatives for Carey nor Sony responded to a request for comment by FOX Television Stations.Carey first released the song in 1994 as part of her holiday album, but the record didn’t become a number-one hit in the U.S.

2 killed in Trenton fire; Showers to hit Delaware Valley on Sunday; Villanova loses to Kansas in Final Four
PHILADELPHIA - TRENTON, N.J. - Two people were killed and at least four firefighters were injured in a three-alarm fire in Trenton on Saturday. Authorities say the fire broke out around 7 p.m. on the 800 block of Carteret Avenue. The four firefighters who were injured have been listed in stable condition, according to fire officials. According to the Trenton Fire Department, the home sustained massive damage. PHILADELPHIA - Sunday's conditions include morning showers and even flurries for some parts ahead of afternoon storms in the Delaware Valley. The late-afternoon storms will be spotty with some areas seeing hail. FOX 29's Drew Anderson says the storms will wrap up Sunday evening as the wind cranks up a bit making a chilly close to the weekend that only saw highs in the mid-50s. Temperatures in the mid-50s will continue throughout the week. Looking ahead, Monday will be the only dry day of the week with a tease of sun in the morning ahead of clouds. NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA: David McCormack #33 of the Kansas Jayhawks shoots the ball as Jermaine Samuels #23 of the Villanova Wildcats defends in the second half of the game during the 2022 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament Final Four semifinal.
