US used wind power more than coal or nuclear for the 1st time

U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). Back on March 29, wind turbines produced 2,017 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity in the lower 48 states, making wind the second-largest source of energy just behind natural gas. "Daily wind-powered electricity had surpassed coal-fired and nuclear electricity generation separately on other days earlier this year, but had not surpassed both sources on a single day," the EIA said. Data from that day showed Americans got their power from natural gas (31%), wind (19%), nuclear (19%), coal (17%) and other sources (14%). Texas has the most wind turbine capacity among states, as of December 2020.

Dolphin found dead after being impaled on Florida beach, law enforcement says

FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. - Law enforcement officials are looking for information after a dolphin was found dead in Florida after being impaled in the head. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) said the dead dolphin was found on Fort Myers Beach on March 24 and recovered by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). NOAA's law enforcement office said a necropsy on the dolphin revealed it was impaled in the head by a spear-like object while still alive. Dolphin dies after reportedly being harassed by Texas beachgoers

QUINTANA BEACH, Texas - Officials say a dolphin on a Texas beach passed away after she was stranded alive over the weekend and reportedly "harassed by a crowd of people." Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network (TMMSN) shared shocking photos on Facebook, saying a dolphin on Quintana Beach, Texas located in Brazoria County, was "pushed back to sea, where beachgoers tried to swim with and ride the sick animal."We're told the dolphin was ultimately stranded and "further harassed by a crowd of people on the beach, where she later died before rescuers could arrive on scene." Officials warned, that as a result, any interactions with dolphins (other than a professional) can only cause more stress on the mammal, but is also illegal. "This type of harassment causes undue stress to wild dolphins, is dangerous for the people who interact with them, and is illegal - punishable by fines and jail time if convicted," TMMSN said in their Facebook post. STEPHENVILLE, Texas - Tarleton State University researchers believe they have demonstrated how combinations of food-grade plant extracts have the power to remove microplastics from wastewater. FAA reveals largest fines ever for unruly passengers

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced Friday that it has proposed the largest-ever fines against two passengers for alleged unruly behavior.In a release, the agency said those fines were $81,950 and $77,272, respectively.They are part of the approximately $2 million in fines it has proposed since Jan. 1, 2022.The $81,950 fine involves a passenger on a July 7, 2021, American Airlines flight from Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, to Charlotte, North Carolina.The FAA alleges that the passenger threatened to hurt the flight attendant that offered help to the passenger after she fell into the aisle.The passenger is said to have then pushed the flight attendant aside and made an attempt to open the cabin door.Two flight attendants tried to restrain the passenger, as she repeatedly hit one of them on the head. After the passenger was restrained in flex cuffs, she continued to spit at, headbutt, bite and kick the crew and other passengers. Law enforcement apprehended her upon landing in Charlotte.

American Airlines will use buses for hops to Philadelphia from Allentown, Atlantic City

FORT WORTH, Texas - American Airlines has hired a bus company to carry passengers between Philadelphia and two airports that are only a short hop away by air.The service will start June 3 between Philadelphia International Airport and airports in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and Atlantic City, New Jersey, the airline said Thursday with the bus company called Landline.Landline and American pitched the bus service as an easier way to get between the Philadelphia airport and Lehigh International Airport in Allentown 73 miles away, and Atlantic City International Airport, 56 miles away.
