'Young and healthy' long Covid sufferers have organ damage months after falling sick, a preliminary study has found. The new research tracked people classed as 'low risk' due to their age and health and found many still battling symptoms - and some with multiple organ damage.
It found most were still struggling with symptoms like muscle and joint pain or difficulty breathing four months on. Nearly three-quarters of the Coverscan study participants were found to be living with damage to one or more organs.
That was despite a low rate of hospitalisation among the group who participated in the study, described as relatively young and healthy in the paper - which has yet to be peer-reviewed.
