PHILADELPHIA - Police are investigating after a man was found inside a car in West Philadelphia injured from a shooting. According to authorities, police responded to 38th Street and Girard Avenue for reports of a person with a gun on Thursday night around 10:15 p.m.Officials say a 53-year-old man was found inside a Chrysler Pacifica suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his chest, abdomen and left arm. The man was transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he is listed in critical condition, according to police. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESAuthorities say the shooting took place near where the victim was located, on the 3800 block of Cambridge Street. The investigation is ongoing and active, police say. 

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities say a man who is being sought in connection to a recent deadly shooting was exonerated last year from a 2012 murder conviction.Police on Thursday shared a mugshot of 32-year-old Jahmir Harris who is linked to a deadly shooting that happened Sept. 5 on the 1700 block of North 56th Street. Prosecutors say Harris was identified by security footage as the driver of a vehicle that two gunman exited before shooting 50-year-old Charles Gossett in the back of the head around 2 a.m.Harris was previously convicted in the shooting death of 45-year-old Louis Porter just two days before Christmas 2012 in the parking lot of a Walgreens on Oregon Avenue.Porter's son was in the backseat of the car when investigators say more than a dozen shot were fired, but the 5-year-old was not injured.

COLOMBO (News 1st) – A daring rescue operation was launched to rescue a young man trapped in the middle of the Mahaweli River, while the search continues to locate another missing man.A major rescue operation got underway in Waratenne, Kandy after two young men were swept away by strong currents in the Mahawelia River.Initial reports said that the two men were swimming with several others.One of the young men had managed to cling on to a rock in the middle of the river, braving the strong currents from Sri Lanka's longest river.The rescue operation was launched by the Life Saving Team from the Kandy Police, and the Sri Lanka Army.With the assistance of two local men, the life saving teams managed to successfully retreive the man following a two hour rescue missing.The search continues to locate the other missing man.

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia police are looking for two men after a shooting on a crowded city sidewalk that miraculously left no one inured. The shooting happened back on Oct. 12 on the corner of 52nd and Arch streets. Surveillance video of the incidents shows two suspects approaching the corner where several people had gathered.

Deptford Township Police Department are investigating a car crash that left a man dead on Tuesday morning.  DEPTFORD TWP, N.J. - Deptford Township Police Department are investigating a car crash that left a man dead on Tuesday morning. Just before 9 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Clements Bridge Road, right along the Camden County border, for reports of a vehicle collision. Police say after they arrived, it was determined that a late model Honda Accord collided with two FedEx trucks. The driver of the Honda Accord, who authorities say is a 24-year-old man from Deptford Township, was transported to Cooper University Hospital in Camden where he succumbed to his injuries. Authorities say the identity of the victim is being withheld until family has been notified. This crash is actively being investigated and police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 856-845-2220, or email [email protected]. 

NEWARK, Del. - The Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office announced that they made an arrest after arson was determined to be the cause of a building fire in Newark on Tuesday. Fire officials say they responded to the Red Roof Inn on South College Avenue shortly before 8 a.m. for reports of smoke inside the hotel. Upon arrival, firefighters say they found a fire in one of the rooms.

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities in Philadelphia say a teenage suspect wanted in connection to the deadly shooting near Roxborough High School surrendered to police on Monday. Troy Fletcher, 15, had a lawyer present when he turned himself into homicide detectives on multiple charges, according to police. An arrest warrant for Fletcher was issued last week for multiple charges, including murder, in connection to the Sept. 27 shooting that claimed the life of 14-year-old Nicolas Elizalde and injured 4 others.Hours earlier, federal authorities increased an award for 16-year-old Dayron Burney-Thorn by $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
