Laporta was Barcelona’s president between 2003 and 10 and oversaw an extremely successful period in the club’s history as they won seven major honours, including the treble under Guardiola in 2008-09.
Discussing his plans if re-elected, Laporta said: "What I would like most would be the return of Guardiola, but he is at City at the moment and that is a decision he has to make.
