Yan Couto has an extra six million reasons to hope that he can break into the Manchester City first team. The Brazilian right-back was signed by the Blues earlier this year having been tracked by club scouts over a number of years.
City have paid Brazilian club Coritiba, also known as Coxa, an initial €6m to secure the player's services from next season.
The idea had been for him to experience pre-season with Pep Guardiola and the first team before a decision was made on where was the best club for him to play at next season.
A loan deal was expected, although staying with the squad in Manchester had not been ruled out. Those plans will have to be reassessed when the results of the impact of the pandemic on football become clearer.
