Manchester United and Man City set for early windfall from UEFA

UEFA have confirmed a decision to release £61.1m to help clubs during the current financial crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, including Manchester United and Manchester City.

Clubs in the Premier League and EFL with international players at European level would have received money for allowing their players to take part in international matches this season and from the European Championship, which was due to take place this summer.

An initial payment would have been paid after the play-offs for the European Championship but, with the tournament now suspended until 2021 and those fixtures not taking place, UEFA has decided to release those funds sooner.
