But now Martin Lewis says changes to the furlough scheme in August that require employers to start contributing towards costs could see redundancies begin to be announced.
This is because employers are required to give at least 45 days notice before cutting roles and that can be done while staff are on furlough.
So the MoneySavingExpert founder warns that if employers can’t afford to start making contributions towards furloughed pay from August, redundancy letters could begin arriving.
