Perthshire doctor reckons mask wearing will be part of society “for ever more”. Dr Tom Fardon shared his thoughts on his popular Facebook page on what was the first anniversary of him being diagnosed with COVID-19.
The Carse of Gowrie-based medic has been working on the COVID assessment unit and high dependency unit at Ninewells throughout the pandemic.
He said he felt the nation was “quite slow to instigate wearing face masks,” in the early days on the pandemic.He added that wearing face masks was “a key part of the slowing of transmission of COVID, and reducing disease,” adding: “There’s still the issues of what kind of mask to wear, wearing it properly, washing cloth masks, the enormous environmental effect of paper surgical.
