Millions can apply for three month payment holiday on credit cards and loans from today

Millions of households will be suffering from the impact of the coronavirus crisis. While many are able to work from home, others have been put on the Government’s furlough scheme or lost their jobs.

Luckily, those who have been hardest hit financially will be able to apply for temporary relief from credit card bills from today.

City watchdog, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), hopes the new temporary measures will act as a stopgap to quickly supports those who risk falling into arrears because of loss of income, sickness, or a sudden change in circumstances.

The rule changes come into force today, on Thursday, April 19, and the full range of measures will apply by Tuesday, April 14, 2020.
