Worrying new data shows infection rates have shot up in coronavirus hotspots - including areas which have been in the most severe lockdown for weeks.
Oldham, which was acrimoniously put into Tier 3 before the nationwide lockdown began last week, has seen a sharp week-on-week rise in cases.
The town, in Greater Manchester, now has an infection rate of 773.9 per 100,000 people after 1,835 cases were identified in just seven days, making it the worst-affected area in England.
Hull has also seen a huge rise in cases, with its infection rate soaring from 373.0 to 671.3 in the week to November 5 - the most recent figures available.
