PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia police are investigating a crash that left a nine-year-old dead and a mother and another child injured. According to authorities, the crash happened in the area of Germantown and Erie Avenues just before 11:30 p.m. Chief Inspector Scott Small says officers with the 25th District and paramedics responded to the scene and found a 2017 Honda Sedan that crashed into the back of a parked unattended minibus. The Honda, with three females inside, sustained heavy damage to the front of the vehicle, Small says. Police are investigating a crash in North Philadelphia at Germantown and Erie Avenues.  Authorities say the driver, a 33-year-old woman, was transported to Temple Hospital with injuries to the face and a possible broken leg. The driver's two daughters, a seven-year-old and nine-year-old, were also in the car, according to police. Police say the two girls were transported to Saint Christopher's. The seven-year-old child is in stable condition with bumps and bruises, but the nine-year-old was pronounced dead at 11:50 p.m., Small says. Police are investigating the cause of the crash, but believe the Honda was traveling eastbound on the 1300 block of Erie Avenue. Authorities said accident investigators are processing the scene and parts of the Honda were found 100 feet west that are believed to have ended up there before the car crashed. Small says there is no evidence the driver was impaired at this time, but they believe the Honda may have been traveling at a high rate of speed. AdvertisementThis is a developing story.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Taxpayers can now track their refunds for the past two years as well as the current tax year, says the IRS.The IRS recently updated its "Where's My Refund?" online tool to introduce the new feature where taxpayers can select any of the three most recent tax years to check their refund status. NEWARK, Del. - Authorities in Delaware arrested an armed man who they say caused a stand-off with officers in the parking lot of an army reserve facility Wednesday morning.Officers from the Newark Police Department were dispatched to the U.S. Army Reserve Training Center on Ogletown Road after a 911 caller reported an armed man in the rear parking lot, authorities said. The caller told the dispatcher that the man covered his Jeep and placed an ammunition can and other objects on the ground, police said.The man, who police say has an "affiliation" with the military, was armed with a rifle and made non-threatening verbal statements while pacing in the parking lot, according to investigators. MORE LOCAL HEADLINESDelaware State Police troopers and officers from the University of Delaware and the Delaware Department of Transportation also responded to the scene. Investigators say the suspect was spotted disassembling his rifle, at which point officers noticed that he was also armed with a handgun. Officers ordered the man to lay on the ground and took him into custody, police said.

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities say three people were killed in two different shooting that happened minutes apart Wednesday afternoon in Philadelphia. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department were called to the 3000 block of Ella street just before 2 p.m. for reports of a shooting. Police say a 44-year-old man was shot at least seven times and a 40-year-old man suffered a lethal gunshot wound to the head. The younger victim was pronounced dead on the scene and the second victim was taken to Temple University Hospital where he died, police said. Minutes later, in Philadelphia's Nicetown-Tioga section were called to the 1600 block of West Erie Avenue where police say a 20-year-old man was shot to death. The victim, whose name has not been reported, was pronounced dead at the scene. AdvertisementNo arrests have been reported in either deadly shooting.

PHILADELPHIA - A man is dead after being shot and killed while walking his dog in Kensington, according to police. Authorities say the incident happened just after 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday night. Officers with the 24th District responded to numerous 911 calls reporting gunshots and a shooting at Frankford Avenue and E Atlantic Street, police say. According to Chief Inspector Scott Small, when police and medical personnel arrived on scene, they found a man on the grond with multiple gunshot wounds throughout his body. Medics transported him to Temple Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:55 p.m., per authorities. The victim's identity remains unknown, but neighbors told police he is known to the area, according to Small. Police say when the victim was found, he was still holding on to a leash with his dog attached. "We're getting information from witnesses that this victim was walking a dog when two males approached him, firing multiple shots," Small said.

PHILADELPHIA - Police say a 27-year-old, off-duty police officer is dead after a motorcycle crash in South Philadelphia Tuesday night. At around 6:45 p.m., police say they responded to the 3300 block of South Broad Street for reports of an auto accident.Upon arrival, police and medics say they found a 27-year-old man laying on the highway next to a crashed motorcycle. The 27-year-old was traveling southbound down Broad Street when a vehicle, operated by a 22-year-old woman, was pulling out of the parking lot in an eastbound direction. Authorities say the woman was making a right hand turn to go south when she came into contact with the motorcycle driver. MORE HEADLINESThe contact caused the motorcycle driver to lose control and police say he struck the curb at the median, causing his body to then strike a light pole. Police and medics found the victim's body next to the light pole where they say he had significant trauma to his neck.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Sacramento County Division of Public Health on Tuesday said officials are investigating a case of monkeypox, which would make it the first known case in California. More testing still needs to be conducted, the health department said, but based on symptoms, it seems like it is indeed a case, especially since the patient just returned home from Europe, where the virus has been documented. The patient is isolating at home and is not in contact with any other people, the department said. "This case appears to be related to recent travel to Europe," Sacramento County Public Health Officer Dr. Olivia Kasirye said in a statement.
