A mum whose son was forced to live in "truly sickening conditions" has been prosecuted for neglect, after the child's grandmother and teacher raised concerns.
The youngster had been living in a rubbish-strewn house alongside a rotting dog carcass, and had no access to hot water. The woman, who cannot be named in order to protect her child, appeared at Swansea Crown Court where she admitted the ill-treatment and neglect of her child over a six-month period.
Dyfed-Powys Police received a call from the defendant's mother raising concern for her grandson's welfare in the early part of this year, while his school teacher had also expressed concern over his hygiene and wellbeing, the court heard.
