The new coronavirus vaccine can't be delivered to care homes in Wales for practical reasons, the Welsh government has said. The first vaccine Pfizer/BioNTech was approved for clinical use by regulators this morning, making the UK the first country in the world with a clinically approved vaccine ready to roll out.
But it has to be stored at extremely low temperatures. The Welsh government has now said the requirements mean it won't be possible for them to distribute the jab to care homes - residents of which are first on the list of priorities to be vaccinated.
