More witnesses in Barnard Castle claimed to have spotted Mr Cummings walking outside shops and along a woodland trail beside the River Tees.
The alleged sightings appear to contradict Mr Cummings’s explanation of his movements in the market town last month. In a lengthy press conference last Monday, Mr Cummings gave a detailed account of his trip to Barnard Castle.
He explained: "My wife was very worried, particularly given my eyesight seemed to have been affected by the disease. She didn't want to risk a nearly 300-mile drive with our child, given how ill I had been. "We agreed that we should go for a short drive to see if I could drive safely.
