A 73-year-old former marathon runner says he has been given "a new life" after recovering from coronavirus. After spending four weeks in hospital, Alan Jordan surprised his wife and son last week by coming home earlier than expected.

Mr Jordan, from Tallaght, thanked the staff of Tallaght University Hospital for all their help and care. His wife, Marie Jordan, said she was so worried when he became seriously ill and described the whole experience as frightening.

Mr Jordan tested positive for Covid-19 when his wife brought him to hospital. He was then put on an oxygen mask and antibiotics to help clear his pneumonia.
