Number 10 has refused to say the Duke and Duchess' trip around the country was compliant with Covid-19 guidance and rules. It comes after Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon tried to block the trip.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are currently travelling around the UK on a three-day tour to thank communities for their efforts during the pandemic.
The Scottish Government advised the couple about the restrictions when they were told about the planned trip. Under current Scottish regulations, it is illegal to travel between England and Scotland unless you have a reasonable excuse.
Asked if the UK government believed trip was strictly necessary, the Prime Minister's official spokesman said: "That's obviously a matter for the palace." He
