A meeting of the National Public Health Emergency Team is due to take place today, to advise on whether coronavirus restrictions in counties Kildare, Laois and Offaly should be lifted.
Restrictions were reimposed on the three counties on Friday 7 August following a spike in the number of cases there. The restrictions had been due to be in place for two weeks.
Last night, two further deaths and 54 more cases of Covid-19 were reported by health officials, a reduction on recent days. Overnight, the number of patients with Covid-19 in hospitals also reduced.
There are now 16 confirmed cases in hospital, down four on the previous day, according to the latest Health Service Executive figures.
