The number of patients in hospital with Covid-19 has risen to 400 today, according to the latest figures. It is the highest number since 8 March, when there were 418 patients in hospital with the disease.
The number of these patients in ICU is 74. Yesterday, the Department of Health reported 1,384 new cases of Covid-19. There were 382 patients being treated in hospital for Covid-19, an increase of 29 from Saturday.
Health Service Executive CEO Paul Reid said the number of people in intensive care units with Covid-19 had risen by 20% in one week, as he urged people to continue to come forward and be vaccinated.
