A union has defended the right of nurses to refuse to treat coronavirus patients if they lack the necessary personal protection equipment.
The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) put forward the case after a nurse who had been left to treat victims of the deadly virus without a mask found herself seriously ill.Guidance published by the nursing union states that nurses may refuse to treat patients as a "last resort" if they do not have the right Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).A spokesman for the Union said: “For nursing staff, this will go against every instinct.
