The Government has issued updated advice for those who are cocooning. These include those aged over 70, people living in residential care and anyone with a serious medical condition that makes them vulnerable.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar, in a speech last Friday outlining how coronavirus restrictions will be eased in coming weeks, said people who were cocooning should continue to do so, but they can go outside their homes from Tuesday if they avoid all contact with other people.
In an appearance on RTÉ's Late Late Show later, he said people cocooning were not to go shopping and that would come in a later phase of the Government's plan.
