Prime Minister Boris Johnson is reviewing coronavirus lockdown measures with ministers today ahead of an expected easing of restrictions from next week as the government's 'stay home' message is to be scrapped.

Mr Johnson will chair a Cabinet meeting which is expected to focus on what freedoms can be restored six weeks after the “draconian” measures were put in place on society to halt the spread of the virus.

He hinted he will announce a limited return to pre-pandemic life in an address to the nation on Sunday, with new measures predicted to come into effect from as early as Monday.

Most of the current measures are expected to continue, however, in a bid to suppress the spread of coronavirus until a vaccine or cure can be found.
