Over 3,500 people have now died of confirmed or suspected coronavirus in Scotland.Figures show that around a total of 3,546 deaths have been officially recorded by the National Records of Scotland (NRS) as of May 17.The numbers, which are updated weekly, account for all deaths in Scotland where Covid-19 is included on the death certificate.
As a result, these figured differ from those released daily by the Scottish Government during the press briefings at St Andrew’s House as they only account for confirmed or suspected cases in hospitals. The NRS data shows there were 332 deaths relating to coronavirus between May 11 and May 17 – a decrease of 83 on last week.Around 55% were registered in care homes, 38% in hospitals while 6% were at home
