THOUSANDS of Scots have signed a petition urging the government to keep gyms open in tier 4 to help benefit the mental health of the country.Under proposed restrictions north and south of the border, the facilities in Monklands will be shut as Scotland and the UK try to battle the spread of a new strain of coronavirus.But a petition sent to Westminster urging MPs to change their minds has been gained 619,725 signatures – around 25,000 of those coming from Scotland.Last month the Tories backed the growing demands for gyms to remain open during the harsher restrictions.Douglas Ross MP, leader of the Scottish Conservatives, said: “There is a growing demand from many residents in tier 4 locations to be allowed to use their local gyms once more.
