A senior police officer has issued a plea for people to stay at home following a 'significant' rise in house parties and gatherings.
Assistant Chief Constable for GMP, Russ Jackson, called on people to stick to government measures after a number of call-outs in the last 24 hours.
He said there had been a rise in the number of gatherings to play football in parks, and to hold house parties. These have included a "large number of house parties" including visitors from other households, in contravention of the lockdown rules.
Police have also received reports of people gathering in streets, in parks and other public spaces - sometimes to play games of football.
