A policeman had his entire hand cut off by people flouting lockdown measures - but doctors were able to reattach it. The policeman was attacked by 11 men dressed as 'Nihangs' on Sunday in Patiala district, India.
A Nihang is a Sikh warrior who dresses in trademark blue robes and they are known for their martial arts and sword-fighting skills.
The group's role is largely ceremonial in the present day, but they still carry swords and knives as a part of their attire.
Local media say sub-inspector Harjeet Singh reported to a vegetable market in Patiala to ask a group of 11 men to disperse before he was set upon.
