An overwhelming majority of people are prepared to pay higher taxes and prices to help boost the wallets of low-paid workers, a poll reveals today.
Seven in 10 people questioned claimed they were ready to stump up more to the Treasury and for goods to help those struggling on low wages.
A study by think tank Demos also found backing for higher government spending as the country recovers from the coronavirus pandemic.
Some 47% wanted ministers to splash more cash, 26% called for current levels to be maintained and just 15% believed spending should be cut.
