Premier League relegation to be scrapped if 2019/20 season can't be completed, says Brighton owner

No Premier League club will be relegated if the 2019-20 season goes uncompleted. That is the clear message from Brighton owner Tony Bloom as confusion continues to reign over the English game amid the coronavirus crisis.

With football on indefinite hold, the 20 Premier League clubs spent Friday in emergency talks over a lengthy list of unresolved issues.

High on their agenda is what happens to the current standings should the season never resume - even behind closed doors. Premier League clubs have tentatively pencilled in June 30 as the deadline for this to happen.

But with that looking increasingly unlikely, the idea that a points-per-game formula could ultimately decide who goes down has been dismissed as a non-starter by Bloom.
