The Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa has given a precautionary go ahead for the Primeira Liga to resume at the end of May.
The coronavirus pandemic had caused a halt to the division with matches last played in Portugal at the beginning of March. And with ten games still to play, the government have announced matches can resume soon as long as they are behind closed doors.
The weekend of May 30-31 has been pencilled in for the restart however the resumption does depend on health authorities approving measures to make stadiums meet hygiene conditions.
