The Duke of Cambridge warned of difficult times ahead but praised Britain’s coronavirus heroes tonight in a speech to food charity workers in Manchester.
William, accompanied by the Duchess of Cambridge, went to FareShare, a national charity feeding almost 1 million people per week across the UK and up to 60,000 in Greater Manchester, to thank staff and volunteers for helping the most vulnerable during the coronavirus pandemic.
Around 80 volunteers send out surplus food donated by supermarkets and their suppliers and distribute it to 230 charities and foodbanks across the city, which is in Tier 3, facing the strictest Covid-19 restrictions.
