Authorities say Norelis Mendoza, 32, of Lindenwold, was found dead on the side of Route 440 near the Jersey City border. JERSEY CITY, N.J. - A New Jersey man is being charged in the murder of a missing Camden County woman whose body was found on the side of a highway near Jersey City. The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office announced several charges against 35-year-old Gregory Mallard in the death of missing Lindenwold woman 32-year-old Norelis Mendoza. The murder, according to prosecutors, is being investigated as an act of domestic violence. Mendoza was reported missing Sunday after she was last seen in Jersey City the previous day.

PHILADELPHIA - A Philadelphia music teacher is keeping her students on beat, despite losing all of her instruments in devastating fire that gutted the entire school building.The Mother of Consolation Parish School in Chestnut Hill went up in flames on Mar. 12, and took with it Elise Malizia's 30-year collection of instruments, CDs and music books. "I lost everything in my classroom – everything," Maliia told FOX 29's Joyce Evans. Despite the loss, she continued to help her students get ready for their spring concert at a chapel on the campus of Chestnut Hill College. "It's such a beautiful thing to be in music education and see the growth and development still happening after a fire, and happening so beautifully," Malizia said. Two months after the fire, there is still no timetable for when the school will be rebuilt.

NEW CASTLE, De. - Delaware is pledging nearly $4 million to place water filters in public schools due to a concerning level of lead in the drinking water. State officials announced the funding on Monday after water tests at some of the state's public school highlighted the need for immediate action. The Castle Hills Elementary School in New Castle is having its fountains shut-off and water coolers brought in to provide safe drinking water in the meantime.Parents, like Wilmington mom Sarah Bucic, called the filters a "critical" step for preventing lead from getting into school-aged children's developing bodies. MORE LOCAL HEADLINES"It's enraging because the cost to society is so high and it's 100% preventable," Bucic said. An administrator in the Colonial School District says parents have been informed of the lead concerns in Castle Hills.

Canadian tourist has been shot and killed in a Mexican beach town just days after a tourist from Argentina was hacked to death in a machete attack in the same Pacific coast resort area.Prosecutors in the Mexican state of Oaxaca say the Canadian man was found dead in a car with a bullet wound in the town of Puerto Escondido, a relaxed beach town popular with surfers, on Monday. No details were revealed regarding the specific circumstances of the man’s death, but he was identified as 27-year-old Víctor Masson.Masson’s death comes three days after a tourist from Argentina was killed in a machete attack in the state of Oaxaca, generally considered one of the safer states in Mexico, roughly 60 miles west of Puerto Escondido in the hamlet of La Isla.The Argentine was identified as Benjamin Gamond and Mexican police say he was one of three tourists from Argentina attacked by a man wielding a machete on Friday and that he died in the hospital after the attack. Canada’s biggest federal public service union is preparing to ramp up its ongoing strike by moving picket lines to strategic locations such as ports on Monday.
