NEW DELHI : In the last five days, about 3.5 lakh passengers availed the services of Rajdhani Special trains during lockdown.
The Indian Railways said it earned revenue of ₹ ₹69 crore during the period. A total of 27,788 people travelled on these trains on May 16 and the number is expected to reach 30,127 on Sunday, said officials.
The trains run on Rajdhani routes and charge premium fares. The Rajdhani Special train service started by the national carrier on May 12 to ferry stranded people between Delhi and other major cities of the country has seen a major demand from the middle class with most of them running on full capacity.
