HIGHLANDS, N.J. - A 15-year-old boy died and several other victims were taken to hospitals after six people were pulled from the ocean at an unguarded New Jersey beach over the weekend, authorities said.Officials said it happened at about 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Sandy Hook in the Gateway National Recreation Area.

PHILADELPHIA - Three 15-year-old boys became the victims of another act of violence that also claimed the life of a man over the Memorial Day weekend.The quadruple shooting erupted on the 4500 block of Mulberry Street just before 9:30 p.m Sunday.All three 15-year-olds were shot several times, and transported to a local hospital.

PHILADELPHIA - A North Philadelphia community is grappling with the loss of a recently-opened grocery store after a stolen car crashed into the building, police say. According to officials, the stolen vehicle crashed into the Grocery Outlet Bargain Market on N American Street early Sunday morning. Crews remove a stolen vehicle from the inside of a Grocery Outlet Bargain Market in North Philadelphia.  Philadelphia police say the driver of the stolen vehicle did get injured in the crash, but no additional information was released. FOX 29 was at the supermarket's grand opening in North Philadelphia in July 2022. The neighborhood was considered a food desert prior to the opening of the store, which provided residents with quality groceries nearby. The front entrance to the Grocery Outlet Bargain Market in North Philadelphia is blocked off after a stolen vehicle crashed into the building.  MORE LOCAL HEADLINESThe next closest grocery store is more than a mile away and is known for high prices, according to residents. The store owner says they are unsure how long it will be closed but hope to reopen as soon as possible.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.J. - New Jersey State Police are asking for the public's help to identify and locate a man they say tried to abduct a 7-year-old boy in broad daylight Sunday.The boy was in a Wawa bathroom on Highway 47 in Cumberland County around noon when police say the suspect offered him candy to leave with him.After the boy said no, the man grabbed him by the arm and tried to abduct him, according to authorities. CAPE COD, Mass. - The National Park Service is offering proposals from prospective lessees for eight historic dune shacks along the Cape Cod National Seashore in Provincetown and Truro, Massachusetts. And while the government has said the fair market value for the shacks is between just $2,000 and $16,000 a year, depending on the size of the dwelling. The shacks are extremely rustic, most with limited running water and electricity, and most of current lessees use outhouses. The remote buildings are open to all bidders "as-is with all faults" and the lessees are expected to maintain the shacks and pay for repairs. OCEAN COUNTY, N.J. - An 11-year-old boy had to be airlifted to a local hospital after being hit by a vehicle, whose driver is now being charged for trying to flee the scene.Giancarlos Fernandez, 19, is accused of hitting the boy on his bike near Barnegat Avenue and Freemont Avenue in Seaside Heights Friday evening.The 11-year-old was thrown to the pavement after "becoming embedded in the vehicle's windshield."MORE HEADLINES:He was airlifted to a local hospital for serious injuries, but is said to be in stable condition.Police say the driver tried to flee on foot following the crash, but was apprehended by officers a few blocks away.

DELAWARE - The stepfather of a 3-year-old girl whose burned remains were found on a softball field several years ago has pleaded guilty to child endangerment charges, according to court documents.Brandon Haas, 41, pleaded guilty in March to one felony count and three misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child. None of the offenses carries mandatory prison time, although the felony count carries a maximum sentence of five years behind bars.

BRISTOL, Pa. - A Pennsylvania community held a vigil Friday for a local infant who prosecutors say died after being beaten and shaken several times by his own father."The community is heartbroken over this, I mean, it’s a small town, everybody knows everybody," Stephane Scancella said. Authorities say on Wednesday night officers from the Bristol Borough Police Department responded to home on 100 block of Radcliffe Street for reports of a 4-month-old in cardiac arrest. Officers administered CPR and rushed the baby to Lower Bucks Hospital where he was pronounced dead just after midnight. Tyler Sullivan (Bucks County District Attorney's Office)  Tyler Sullivan, 30, was charged with homicide and two counts of aggravated assault in the case. Following an examination of the infant, a doctor found that the child had suffered several injuries, including bruises and abrasions throughout the body. Investigators concluded that Sullivan had violently shaken the baby on at least two occasions Wednesday, and at least six additional times over the past six weeks. MORE LOCAL HEADLINES"We all have bene heartbroken about this mom losing her son, especially the way she did," Scancella said. Neighbors day the baby's 22-year-old mother and Sullivan were engaged to be married. "We have to do something for this mother and her family," Scancella said. "It’s heart-wrenching."

GILBERT, S.C. - A school bus collided with a tanker truck Thursday in South Carolina, sending at least 18 people, mostly children, to the hospital, authorities said.The bus was carrying 36 passengers when it collided with the tanker at about 4 p.m. at an intersection near Gilbert in Lexington County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.Dramatic video shows the school bus pull out in front of the tanker truck before the crash. At least 17 children and one adult were taken to Lexington Medical Center for treatment, the hospital told WIS-TV.
