Five of the watch world’s heavyweights announce their decision to leave Basel for Geneva Known as Baselworld since 2003, the world’s biggest and most significant watch and jewellery fair has its roots in a trade exhibition that started in the city in 1917.

But its future hangs in the balance as some of the industry’s biggest players have announced a new, breakaway show. Recent years have seen the mighty Baselworld – once home to over 600 exhibitors – struggling with dissatisfaction from participants and visitors alike due to high costs of stand space, poor facilities and the hiked-up prices of hotels and restaurants.
