Captain Tom Moore has now gone and scored himself a number one hit after he raised a staggering £26million for the NHS amid the coronavirus crisis.

The 99-year-old former veteran, who was aiming to raise just £1,000 for the NHS by walking up and down his garden 100 times before his 100th birthday this week, has hit the number one song.

His charity collaboration with Michael Ball and The NHS Voices of Care Choir on the song You'll Never Walk Alone has topped The Official Big Top 40 chart on Sunday.

It comes after he raised millions by walking up and down his garden in his home in Marston Moretaine, Bedfordshire. The single is also raising money for the NHS, as well as the millions he raised by walking.
