Rutherglen and Cambuslang has the highest rate of new cases in the region, at 3.84 per 1000 residents. Figures published by Public Health Scotland revealed there were 891 new cases of the virus between Sunday, December 27, and Saturday, January 2 - up from 552 in the previous week.Case numbers in the region are at the highest in two months as 2.78 cases were recorded for every 1000 residents.Burnhill and Bankhead North was the region's coronavirus hotspot last week after 35 people in the neighbourhood tested positive for the virus.That equates to 10.58 cases for every 1000 residents - almost double the rate of the second highest neighbourhood in South Lanarkshire.Last week, the Hamilton area saw the most cases at 281 while 242 positive.
