A Scots mum-of-four tragically died of Covid-19 after repeatedly postponing the second dose of the Covid vaccine due to recurring illness.

Kellyanne Syme, 42, passed away on January 4 in the intensive care at Forth Valley Royal Hospital after 'fighting hard until the end'.

The Falkirk mum had a lung condition called emphysema which causes shortness of breath, coughing and tightness of the chest.

People with the condition have damaged air sacs and over time symptoms worsen as the inner walls of the air sacs become weaker and rupture.Kellyanne had her first covid vaccine at the start of the rollout last year but was unable to receive her second vaccination due to recurring illness throughout 2021.In the months after her first vaccine she repeatedly developed bacterial chest infections from catching the cold and flu, exacerbated by her emphysema.NHS Inform guidance states that although you may still attend for a vaccine appointment when suffering from minor illness, if you feel very unwell or have a fever your vaccine may be postponed until you have fully recovered.Sadly, Kellyanne was never well enough to get the jab.Kellyanne had hoped she would finally be able to get her second jag in December after spell of feeling better, but when she again fell ill with the flu again, she had to reschedule the appointment until January.Tragically she caught covid on December 20 and never recovered. Her devastated family have paid tribute to their 'genuine angel' mum who had the 'kindest soul'.Daughter Taylor, 20, told the Record: "My mum tested positive for Covid on December 20th and she was doing okay but she took a bad turn on Christmas Eve and I had to phone an ambulance."We thought she was going to be okay but she was admitted

Ottawa facing ‘real risk’ of violence as trucker convoy digs in: ex-police chief
trucker convoy digs in, setting up infrastructure and heavy machinery in what Ontario Premier Doug Ford and the Ottawa police chief are both now calling an “occupation” of the city.Tensions are only expected to rise on Saturday, with police estimates of up to 1,000 counterprotesters and thousands of additional convoy supporters making for what former Ottawa police chief Charles Bordeleau called a “volatile” mix.“There’s no question the dynamics around who’s involved and the different factions and different players that are in town present a real risk and potential for increased violence,” he told Global News.“I hope it ends in a peaceful resolution where nobody gets hurt. That’s everybody’s goal.”“But there are scenarios that may have to evolve where the police will have to escalate and use force to start arresting individuals and removing vehicles that are blocking the area,” Bordeleau added.“That is a scenario that presents some significant risks and consequences that people need to be able to really willingly accept.” Ottawa police vow ‘surge and contain’ response to trucker convoy ‘occupation’ All eyes are on Ottawa’s current police chief, Peter Sloly, as the demonstrations enter their ninth day.Ottawa police services board chair Diane Deans called a special meeting of the board for 4:30 p.m.
