A hugely popular Viking festival in Shetland has been cancelled by organisers for a second year running over covid fears. Organisers making the announcement stated that they know the news will be "disappointing" for the many people who regularly attend the annual festival in Lerwick.Marking the end of the pagan Yule season, it was due to take place on January 25 next year, but will now be postponed once again until 2023 - should things get better.

It follows the news that the organisers of the Stonehaven Fireball Festival have also been forced to cancel their event, a week after saying they would go ahead with the annual event.
