Higher education minister Richard Lochhead is expected to announce a mass testing regime for undergraduates to allow them to leave halls of residence without spreading Covid in the wider community.It could see students tested for coronavirus twice, five days apart, with two negative results required before they are allowed to head home.

Covid infections across Scotland rocketed after universities reopened for the new academic term in September, with education bosses criticised for a lack of preparation.

The UK Government has already announced a similar testing plan for students in England and SNP ministers have faced questions.

Tequila could become America’s favorite liquor, data trends show

General Declaration on the Protection of the Appellation of Origin Tequila, as put forth by Mexico’s Tequila Regulatory Council. Tequila popularity has been steadily growing since 2002 and in 2021 alone, 26.9 million 9-liter cases of tequila were sold, according to the Distilled Spirits Council. Compared to vodka, which still has the top spot in Americans’ hearts, tequila sales grew by 30.1% compared to vodka sales which only grew by 4.9% in 2021 alone.
