PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating a shooting on a Kensington street, where police say a teenage shooting victim was found. According to authorities, just after 10 p.m. on Thursday, police were dispatched to the 800 block of E Allegheny Avenue for a report of gunshots. Officials say responding officers found a 15-year-old girl lying on G Street with a gunshot wound to both thighs. She was transported to Temple University Hospital, where she is in critical condition, but expected to survive, police say. Chief Inspector Scott Small says about 15 minutes later, police heard gunshots as they were investigating the scene. Officers ran in the direction and found a 25-year-old man firing shots, police say. MORE LOCAL HEADLINES According to Small, officers were able to get him to lay down and hand over his weapon. Police say he was also shot in both legs and taken to Temple University Hospital, where he is in stable condition. Officials say investigators believe he was the one who was firing shots on the 800 block of E Allegheny, where the teenage girl was struck. The man was also taken into custody, police say. According to a Facebook post for the Marshalltown Police Department, Officer David Danielson was patrolling a neighborhood roughly 53 miles north of Des Moines on May 20, when he collided with a child who was attempting to cross the street. In the dash-cam footage, Danielson can be seen driving past a white van which appeared to be an ice cream truck with a sign that says "stop for children." The child can then be seen entering the street in front of the van where he was struck by Danielson's vehicle. The vessel included "corinthian capitals decorated with vegetal motifs, partially carved capitals, and a huge marble architrave, measuring up to 6 meters long," the IAA said."It seems that these valuable architectural elements were destined for a magnificent public building—a temple or perhaps a theatre," said the IAA.The location of the artifacts was reported a few weeks earlier by an experienced sea swimmer, Gideon Harris, who reported seeing "ancient columns" on the seabed off Beit Yanai beach, according to the IAA.Koby Sharvit, the head of the IAA’s underwater archaeology unit, said they had "been aware of the existence of this shipwrecked cargo for a long time" but did not know its exact location."From the size of the architectural elements, we can calculate the dimensions of the ship; we are talking about a merchant ship that could bear a cargo of at least 200 tons," said Sharvit.

(AP) - A Louisiana man has been charged with aggravated assault and battery after shooting at children who had been playing hide and seek outside his home, striking a 14-year-old girl, officials said.The girl suffered a gunshot wound to the back of the head early Sunday, and was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office said in a statement posted on social media Monday.Investigators learned that several children were playing hide and seek in the Starks neighborhood and were hiding on the neighbor’s property.David Doyle, 58, told detectives that he got his gun when he saw shadows outside his home and shot at people he saw running away, unknowingly hitting the girl, officials said.It's the latest in a series of recent shootings sparked by seemingly trivial circumstances.RELATED:Doyle was arrested and charged with aggravated battery, four counts of aggravated assault with a firearm and illegal discharge of a firearm, the sheriff's office said.
