PHILADELPHIA - Two teenagers are facing charges for their alleged roles in a car theft and subsequent barricade situation that happened Saturday night.

The incident unfolded at approximately 8 p.m. on the 600 block of North Broad Street when police were conducting a vehicle investigation.

Authorities say officers recognizes a male occupant of the vehicle as someone wanted for car theft out of Philadelphia. The suspect fled the vehicle and was chased into a home on the 1200 block of Wallace Street.

An officer noticed the suspect was holding a gun. After the suspect ran inside the home on the 1200 block of Wallace Street, a barricade was declared.

Philadelphia family held captive throughout weekend by armed home intruders, police say

PHILADELPHIA - Authorities say a Philadelphia family was held captive over the weekend by a group of armed intruders who tortured one of the family members and forced withdraws from various banks.Philadelphia Police Captain Jack Ryan told reporters that the situation started Friday afternoon when a 45-year-old man was robbed and "abducted" by three suspects in front of his home on the 4600 block of Decatur Street in Holmesburg.Ryan said the "criminal gang" then entered the victim's home where they held his family of three, including a 10-month-old, captive throughout the weekend. The victim's 68-year-old father and a friend of the wife came to the house from Saturday to Sunday and were also held prisoner by the group. During the weekend, captors forced the man to withdraw a "significant amount of cash" from various banks as his family was being held hostage. Ryan said at one point in the weekend a family member was "tortured" and has since been treated and released from an area hospital. The family was released on Sunday night and immediately called the Philadelphia Police Department. "They're all okay, as well as you can be after undergoing an ordeal such as that," Ryan said. WARRINGTON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Authorities announced Monday that two more individuals have been charged in connection to bomb threats made to Central Bucks South High School in November. Officials from the Warrington Township Police Department say the bomb threats were submitted to the school through the Safe2Say program on November 16, 2021. Previously, a juvenile was arrested and charged in connection to the threat, which brings the number of total individuals charged to three. It is not known if these two individuals were also juveniles. Police say they do not believe there is anyone else involved in the planning or carrying out of the threats.

School District of Philadelphia's new mask mandate goes into effect Monday

PHILADELPHIA - Another new mask mandate is in place and goes into effect Monday morning for the School District of Philadelphia. The new rule is that clothe masks can no longer be worn as the only protection. Instead, 3-ply disposable masks must be worn. Double masking is allowed with clothe masks so long as a 3-ply disposable mask.Officials say the 3-ply disposable mask is more effective in preventing the spread of COVID-19."The one bit of advice that we've continued to put out there is that people should be flexible in understanding that things change very quickly from time to time," officials said.

NORTH EAST, Md. - A crossing guard, who saved a student from being hit by a car on Friday, is being called a hero by the North East community. The heroic rescue, caught on camera, shows Corporal Annette Goodyear from the North East Police Department risk her life for a student crossing the street. The video shows Goodyear pushing the young girl out of harm's way, and sacrificing her own body as she's struck by a car speeding through the crosswalk. Goodyear has been a crossing guard for 14 years. She told FOX 5's Perris Jones she's never had an incident like this, and that her initial reaction was to move the student out of the way.

Arrest made after man stabbed in chest in North Philadelphia

PHILADLEPHIA - A man is making a recovery after he was stabbed once in North Philadelphia. The incident happened inside a property on the 2000 block of N Woodstock Street at approximately 12:39 a.m. Police say a 41-year-old man was stabbed once in the chest and refused transportation to the hospital. A knife was recovered at the scene and an arrest has been made.
