A great-grandmother has died after she contracted coronavirus while she was recovering from a stroke in hospital. Margaret Rotheram, 72, a Scot who moved to Horwich 60 years ago, was 'cruelly snatched away' late on Sunday night by the disease after contracting it in hospital, her family says.
Mrs Rotheram was a patient at the Royal Bolton Hospital, also spending a stint at Salford Royal Hospital, while recovering from a debilitating stroke she suffered seven weeks earlier.
The hospital had been in lockdown and she was unable to have visitors, but the mother-of-five was said to have been making 'great progress' - even taking her first steps.
