The latest Public Health England figures show the rate in the borough, where concerns are rising over the rapid spread of the Indian variant, now stands at 341.5 per 100,000.
This is almost 17 times the national average for England of 20.4. Bolton is currently the most infected place in the country.
The M.E.N revealed today how it appears that the spike is being drive by school age children, as figures from the end of last week show the rate among five to nine year olds and 10 to 14 year olds were the highest recorded rates for both age groups.
