Coronavirus infection rates have continued to rise steeply in most parts of Greater Manchester, according to the latest data from Public Health England (PHE).
Infection is still rising in Bolton which recorded 452.1 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending May 21, the highest anywhere in England.
The infection rate is also doubling every week in Bury, according to the latest data. Only Tameside and Stockport saw their infection rate fall - the other eight boroughs of Greater Manchester registered increases..
In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 85.5 cases per 100,000 population. The infection rate in the region is almost four times higher than the national average, which is 23.0 cases per 100,000 people.
