On the New Barracks Estate in Ordsall is a street called Coronation Street. And, much like its fictional counterpart, it's tells a story of working class, community spirit.

Another local icon, the Salford Lads Club, sits just in front of the New Barracks, almost hiding it. Venture past the imposing red brick monument and you will uncover an area that has drastically changed its fortunes.

Once described as a ‘living hell', the Barracks Estate was known for its links to Salford hardmen, visits from police helicopters and burnt out cars in the mid to late 80s.
