Royal Mail suspends Saturday letter deliveries over coronavirus

Royal Mail will temporaliy scrap its delivery service for letters on Saturdays. It said this was part of a number of measures due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Others include changing the time guarantee on Special Delivery. It follows the UK lockdown due to Covid-19, which it said has left an increased number of staff absent.

A statement read: "We continue to work hard to collect, process and deliver the UK’s mail in unprecedented times. "However, along with other organisations, we are experiencing increased levels of employee absence due to illness and self-isolation.
